Bodycam's Zombies mode is here to stay (December 2025)
After drawing around 600,000 players with Asylum and launching Village, Reissad made Zombies a permanent mode and an 'experimental lab' for future features.
In mid-December 2025, Reissad Studio confirmed that Zombies is now a permanent mode in Bodycam.
From Halloween event to core pillar
- Zombies debuted in November 2024 on the Asylum map, which according to press coverage drew around 600,000 players.
- v0.7.0 added Village, the biggest zombie map, along with the explosive-bolt crossbow.
An "experimental lab"
The most interesting part of the announcement is the role the mode is given: an experimental lab for PvE and PvP features. Weapons, utility items and performance improvements can be tried in Zombies first and, if they work, move to regular multiplayer.
The studio also hinted it wants to push realism to the extreme, replacing supernatural aesthetics with "science-based" threats. The goal is gameplay so authentic that viewers wonder whether the footage is real.
What happened next
The twist is that, nine months later, Zombies is disabled in v0.8 while it's adapted to the new systems. Here's when it's coming back.
