Bodycam Locked & Loaded (v0.8): everything new in the biggest update yet
A loadout system with around 400 attachments, the Trenches map, FPV drones and RC cars, Wingman 2v2, host migration, rebuilt audio and DLSS 4.5. Full breakdown and what it means for you.
On September 2, 2026 at 17:00 UTC, Reissad Studio released Locked & Loaded, Bodycam's version 0.8 and by far the largest update since the game entered Early Access in June 2024. Brothers Luca and Léo frame it as the shift from "a game developed by two brothers in their bedroom" to a real studio: a young team backed by experienced technical veterans.
It isn't just a content drop. A huge share of the work went into the foundations (code, networking, UI), which explains both the strong launch and the rough edges in the first few days.
Loadouts and weapon customization
The headline feature is a full loadout system with around 400 attachments across every weapon. They aren't just cosmetic: each part changes real stats.
- ADS speed, weapon switch speed and reload speed.
- Horizontal and vertical recoil, spread and visual kick.
- Magazine capacity.
Categories include barrels (short and long), muzzles (suppressors with per-weapon audio, flash hiders, compensators), side rails, optic mounts, optics (iron sights, close, medium and long range, reticles and canted optics), magazines, triggers, grips, stocks (light and heavy), ammo types and stickers. Attachments with no gameplay effect are labelled as cosmetic.
The studio admits there are thousands of combinations it couldn't test and asks players to report compatibility or clipping issues.
New weapons
- BK-101 shotgun.
- Rivington sniper rifle.
- SG9-X and Veaper machine pistols.
- CR-75 pistol.
- The SG5-X returns.
On top of that, every weapon and model was reworked to be more realistic and to support part-by-part customization.
Magnified optics (picture-in-picture)
For the first time, Bodycam has true magnified scopes using picture-in-picture rendering. They come with new reticles, canted optics with a dedicated switch action, and a new glass shader with tint, dirt and coated-lens reflections. PiP costs performance, which matters if you're already short on frames.
Animations, arms and "stressed" handling
First-person animations were rebuilt across the arsenal: inspects, mag checks, reloads, grip poses and transitions. The standout is a stressed animation layer that makes weapon handling react to combat intensity. The first-person arms are also new, with far more detailed gloves, clothing and collars.
Drones and RC cars
Two new tools for scouting and pressure: FPV drones and RC cars. Each has its own camera, a team LED identifier and a cooldown, with an extra cooldown after a loadout change to prevent abuse. For now drones use Xbox or PlayStation controllers. The studio has partnered with the Tryp FPV simulator to add dedicated radio controller support later.
Knives, grenades and gore
- Melee is fully implemented: knives are picked in the loadout, get new attacks and can be thrown.
- New grenades: flashbangs, sticky and impact grenades. Damage and range were rebalanced, and throws are now more consistent between host and client.
- Hit feedback was reworked: blood, flesh impacts and metal sparks. An early stumbling system also joins the ragdoll.
Audio rebuilt from the ground up
This is probably the change you'll notice most while playing.
- Sound propagation with real-time organic reverb.
- Shockwaves that travel through corridors and stairwells, with distance occlusion.
- Much clearer vertical audio: you can tell whether an enemy is above or below you.
- Better footstep positioning, plus bullet crack and whiz-by when shots pass close.
Voice chat was rebuilt on EOS. At launch you couldn't mute other players, which was fixed the very next day in patch v0.8 #1.
The new Lobby: a shooting range
The main menu is gone. Between matches you now spend your time in an explorable HUB with a firing range, armory, attachment room and social areas. Everything is driven from an in-game tablet, with a full-screen mode for accessibility. You're invulnerable in the Lobby and can test builds before a match. Some areas, like the shoot house and the drone rooms, are still "closed for maintenance".
New map: Trenches
Trenches mixes close-quarters fights inside flooded and dry trench networks with long-range duels across open ground. It has underground galleries, forest, ruins, observation posts and a central church. Oil Rig and Tumblewood aren't in this version, though the studio has plans for both.
The dynamic day/night cycle was replaced by random lighting and weather scenarios per round. According to the studio, this gives a significant performance gain because shadows are no longer recalculated constantly.
Modes: Wingman 2v2 replaces Bodybomb
Bodybomb 5v5 is gone and Wingman 2v2 is now the default competitive mode, with faster rounds and tighter fights. Ranks and ELO can only be earned in Wingman.
At launch, matchmaking wasn't skill-based and only solo queue was available. Hardpoint comes to Trenches and CQB, and Gun Game gets new weapon pools.
Host migration
Bodycam runs peer-to-peer. Until now, if the host left, the whole lobby dropped, and some hosts did it on purpose near the end to deny results. Now a new host is picked by ping and the match tries to resume from the last known state, within a maximum of 5 seconds. Positions, ammo, kills, dropped weapons and weather are restored.
Progression and economy
You now start with a base weapon and unlock the rest of the weapons and attachments with Reissad Points. The real-money shop is disabled and skins you already bought are kept. The system was criticized as too slow, and the studio adjusted it in patches #2 and #3.
Graphics and performance
- Upscalers: DLSS 4.5, FSR 4 and XeSS 3.
- Frame generation for DLSS and FSR.
- Reworked graphics settings: sensitivity options, gamma calibration and better presets.
- Heavy gameplay logic moved from Blueprints to C++ to lower CPU cost.
- Server-authoritative checks for health, damage and inventory.
See recommended settings in our v0.8 FPS guide.
What's missing: party, zombies and anti-cheat
- Party system: didn't make it. To play with friends you create a match in the Custom tab or join the same server separately. See how to play with friends.
- Zombies: disabled. The studio wants to bring it back for Halloween, possibly with new content.
- Anti-cheat: "well underway", but the team chose not to rush it.
- Languages: UI localization is temporarily disabled.
- New feedback tool: bug reports and suggestions now go through Feature Upvote instead of Discord.
Our take
Locked & Loaded changes Bodycam at its core. Loadouts and the new audio add real tactical depth, and host migration fixes one of the most frustrating P2P problems. The trade-off: no party, no zombies, and an economy that felt too slow in week one.
Players responded immediately: the game broke its concurrent player record within half an hour. If you're coming back now, start at the Lobby firing range and test attachments before you spend points.
