Bodycam breaks its player record 30 minutes after Locked & Loaded

The v0.8 update pushed Bodycam past 32,000 concurrent players on Steam, above its 2024 launch peak. What drove it and what to expect next.

Thirty minutes. That's how long it took Bodycam to beat its all-time concurrent player record on Steam after Locked & Loaded (v0.8) went live on September 2, 2026. According to Insider Gaming, the game reached roughly 32,300 concurrent players. The previous record dated back to the Early Access launch in June 2024.

The studio celebrated with a short message: "BODYCAM IS BACK!"

Why players came back

  • Built-up hype: days before the update, the studio announced Bodycam had passed 3 million wishlists on Steam.
  • Widely watched devlogs: some episodes of the four-part "Road to Locked & Loaded" series passed a million views, and the first one premiered on IGN's YouTube channel.
  • An update that sells itself in one clip: loadouts with around 400 attachments, FPV drones, a trench map and rebuilt audio that shines on video.

The challenge: keeping them

Early Access player peaks usually fade in the following weeks, and Bodycam has been through that before. This time v0.8 also shipped without a party system, which makes it harder to play with friends, and that's exactly what keeps people in a tactical shooter. The studio says rebuilding the party is its number-one priority, as it explained in patch v0.8 #5.
